It is the stated mission of Westport PAL Lacrosse to create a fun, safe and respectful environment for boys and girls to learn the fundamental skills of lacrosse, regardless of race, creed, color, or economic circumstances. Our goal is to instill in players of all abilities the love we share for the game, respect for their teammates, personal responsibility, and an understanding of good sportsmanship.
The Westport PAL Lacrosse program is one of many youth sports groups under the Westport PAL. The Westport PAL is a non-profit organization with a long history of successful youth sports programs. The Westport PAL Lacrosse Program is comprised of volunteer lacrosse enthusiasts who support Staples High School Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams. Our teams are open to boys and girls who live in or attend school in Westport.
We welcome new players into our program at all age levels. We do not cut anyone from our program. Instead, we attempt to place each player on a team that will allow him/her to develop at the quickest pace while enjoying his/her experience.
The Westport PAL has served the community for over 50 years. The lacrosse program has continued to grow since its inception 20 years ago and recently became part of the Westport PAL. A board of directors oversees both the administration of the program’s policies and the program’s operation throughout the year.
The board is comprised of a diverse group of volunteer coaches, non-coaching parents of players and local citizens.
Teams are coached and managed by paid and volunteer coaches. All coaches attend mandatory coaching clinics, are certified by the National Youth Coaches Association, attend and pass a concussion identification program, and have passed a criminal background check.
Westport PAL Lacrosse believes the keys to success
are respect, personal responsibility, sportsmanship and FUN for all athletes
